Bienalle of Architecture Austrian pavilion NEXT Enterprise 2010
Outdoor there are spaces made of situations and atmospheres. These are made of encounters and interactions between moods, smells, noises, cracks, temperatures, colors, intensities. These are the software BITS that enliven the city hardware.
There are ways how to feel, enjoy and live these spatialities. There are also ways how to see them, draw them and map them.
We were intrigued to collect them. to find them in one place and extract them. We looked for ways to capture them. Invisible but sensible live spaces become viewable and tangible objects, frozen and inactive. We tried to make them transferable, to show them, revive them and let them to blossom in other places. We have manufactured the CARTRIDGE. We tried to make them transferable to show them, revive them and let them blossom in other places.
We envisioned a device that prints the cartridge. We have built the PRINTER. We have built a machine that fabricates mixtures of local outdoor conditions with the frozen ones of the cartridge and renders their interactions. An endless canvas becomes testimony of these encounters, again and again.
We produced the SENSUM PRESS that orchestrates their meeting. The printing happens while it is influenced by atmosphere in Venice. We recorded it several months during the Biennale of Architecture and took the Venice shroud back to Bratislava.
